Accommodations

Madhuban provides a waterfront apartment hotel accommodation, facing the Whangaroa Harbour. A boat ramp and a swim area is right across from our apartment hotel. Ohakiri Rock (St Peter’s Rock) is about half a mile up the road, and fishing club, and the local Marina is half a mile down the road. There are three golf courses within 10 miles of Madhuban. Puketi Forest, with the largest and oldest trees in New Zealand, are a short drive away. Some of the most pictureseque beaches of New Zealand are within a few miles of Madhuban. There is a lot To Do.

The tiny village of whangaroa is phenomenally scenic.



Our property has been freshly landscaped

We have taken great care to tastefully decorate each of our rooms to ensure they are comfortable and stylish. The rooms have been renovated, upgraded and we continue to improve on the facilities each day. Our beds are comfortable, and are medium in softness. We have selected premium 100% cotton linen, and towels, with mostly memory foam pillows. We pride ourselves in providing individual care, and so, if you have specific individual needs regarding linen, towel or pillows, please let us know and we will endeavor to meet them to the best of our abilities.

If you find some of the pictures are different from the actual lodgings, that is only because of the fact that we are constantly renovating and evolving. The intention is not to deceive, but to genuinely improve upon the experiences of our guests.

The apartment hotel Madhuban has three fully furnished self contained suites – The King Suite, The Queen Suite, and the Studio Suite. Each suite can accomodate upto four people. Each has a kitchen and bathroom, a 55″or 65″ TV. A deck wraps around the entire house. Each suite has a private entrance. The shared laundry is accessible from outside. All three suites are on the ground floor, although there may be a few steps leading to the rooms. Only the Studio Suite has wheelchair access. Please discuss with us if you have mobility related special requirements.

The King Suite

The King Suite – our largest – has two rooms which can accomodate 4 people. The two rooms share a bathroom, and both face the ocean. A large indoor fully equipped kitchen complements the indoor and outdoor dining spaces. A dining space and a relaxing bathtub on the deck completes the picture.

The King has a 65″ TV in one room. There is no TV in the second room. This has two steps leading to the rooms, for those who are mobility constrained. The suite is not wheelchair friendly.

The apartment hotel has a full sized kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, oven, coffee percolator, cappucino maker, kettle, toaster, rice cooker, crockery, cutlery, with its own BBQ unit.

As a courtesy, our apartment hotel provides a choice of select candies and chocolates, and breakfast related items for free.

The Queen Suite

The Queen Suite at our apartment hotel also has two rooms, each with a comfortable Queen sized bed, and 55 inch TVs, with Freeview and Netflix. The suite can accommodate 4 people. One of its rooms faces the ocean, whereas the other looks out to a living wall. The Queen Suite blends indoors and outdoors with a kitchen and dining space on the deck. It shares part of the deck with the King Suite, but also has its own private space. The suite is three steps up from the garden pathway, if mobility is an issue.

The Queen Suite at our apartment hotel has a full sized kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, coffee percolator, cappucino maker, kettle, toaster, rice cooker, crockery, cutlery. There is no oven, but we can provide a portable oven if required. Private BBQ and a gas based Patio Heater are provided.

As a courtesy, Madhuban provides a choice of select candies and chocolates, and breakfast related items for free.

The tariff for this luxury suite is $345 per night, plus a cleaning fee of $65 per stay. Seasonal rates may vary.

The Studio Suite

The Studio at the apartment hotel Madhuban is a large, single room, with ensuite, kitchen, and private entrance. It can accommodate 4 people. It has a comfortable Queen bed, a King Single, and a sofa that opens into a bed. The Studio faces the Courtyard. It has three dining spaces – inside dining, on the covered and protected deck, for rainy days when you still want to eat out. The Courtyard has yet another sitting and dining area. The Studio is flush with the driveway, there are are no steps leading to the room. This is the only room with possible direct wheelchair access.

The kitchen in this suite is full sized, with microwave, refrigerator, coffee percolator, kettle, toaster, crockery, cutlery. There is a portable oven, and cappacino machine can be provided on request. A private BBQ is provided and a gas operated patio heater is provided in winters. There is a casino style gaming table provided for leisure.

As a courtesy, Madhuban provides a choice of select candies and chocolates, and breakfast related items for free.

The tariff for this luxury studio suite is $280 per night, plus a cleaning fee of $65 per stay. Seasonal rates may vary.

Essentials

Our apartment hotel provides basic essentials for your stay as a courtesy. This includes linen, towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash, dishwashing liquid, milk, juice, eggs, bread, spices, cooking oils, condiments, tea, coffee, and other beverages. Generally, items like pancake mix, cereal etc, hot chocolate, coke or pepsi etc are also provided. A welcome pack of chocolates and candies is provided in every suite. If any of these items are not to your taste, simply let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate your preferences.

Laundry Facilities

Laundry facilities at Madhuban Apartment Hotel include washer & dryer. There is only one laundry room at Madhuban. Access is thru the deck attached to the Studio Suite. Detergent, Softener, Disinfectant, Bleach etc are provided free of cost for stays greater than 3 days. For stays less than 3 days, there is a surcharge of $20 per load for washing, and $20 for drying.

Parking Facilities

Parking at the Apartment Hotel Madhuban is plentiful, and free. We can accommodate up to two boats on trailers, and 3 cars at the site when the boats are in. Without the boats, there is ample parking for upto 5 cars. Public parking is available near Madhuban. Paid parking and mooring for boats is available at the fishing club/marina, @NZD$29 per night.

Kitchen & Dining

Every suite at the Apartment Hotel Madhuban has a kitchen/kitchette, with ample provisions.

But, we do recognize there may be special circumstances where you may wish to relax and unwind. We would be happy to provide an ala carte breakfast, lunch and/or dinner upon request, as long as our guests pre-order. Madhuban only offers take away services. If you have a special occasion and would like to be served, please contact us, and we will accommodate to the best of our ability.

The price for take away breakfast varies from $25 – $40 per person. Take away Lunch and Dinner menu is limited in variety, and is approximately $40 per person.

Please don’t forget to inform us of your meal requirements at the time of your booking, or at least before you arrive. Check the menu, or ask for a menu.

Renovations

There are renovations underfoot in the King Suite,on the wraparound deck, and the front yard is being landscaped to provide additional recreational space across from the harbour. In order to try and keep the disturbances to the minimum, we schedule all maintenance and newbuild on days when there are no bookings, nevertheless, there may be materials on the driveway, or in the front yard. We’re sorry for the discomfort the ongoing renovations may cause. One day soon all this shall end.

Sustainability

We are responsibly environmentally conscious, and believe in conserving natural resources. Freshly laundered linen is provided when you check in. If you need additional linen or towels, we would be happy to provide them, but we do not change the linen for stays less than 7 days.

We harvest rainwater, and therefore, water conservation is of utmost importance. Please do not wash your cars, or boats at our facility.

Discounts & Payment

We offer 10% discounts for stays greater than 7 days, and 20% discounts for stays greater than 15 days. We also offer 10% discount for returning customers. These discounts can stack – ie a returning guests staying for more than 7 days will get a 20% discount.

Currently, we do not have the ability to accept credit or debit cards. You may pay thru paypal, or by bank transfer, in NZ or in US currency at the time of booking. We prefer not to accept cash. Please email us to ask about bank or paypal details.

Cancellation Policy

Our cancellation policy related to COVID pandemic remains in place – full refund if you are unable to complete your stay due to government ordered lockdown.

Other than that, we have a strict no-cancellation policy, and there will be no refunds, except for exceptional circumstances. Under such exceptional circumstances, we shall be entitled to retain the cleaning fee of $65. This is the same policy that we follow when you book thru booking agents like Booking.com, Expedia etc.

Rules

The following rules apply:

1. Shoes are not allowed inside the rooms.

2. Quiet time between 11:00 PM – 5:00AM

3. Partying, or loud music is not allowed

4. Water conservation is mandatory. Please don’t clean your boats or cars at the property.

5. Pets are not allowed

6. Extra cleaning fee may apply if the room is left in an unresonable mess

7. Guests are financially responsible for any damage or loss of property, or its chattels.

  1. I saw you post on host a sister, I wrote to you and you said you’d be happy to meet up and possibly host. this place looks wonderful and I’d love to stay at least 1 or 2 days. I could pay for a rental if you’d like I just dont know your prices, I’m travelling alone for a week in north island. This is one place that looks very beautiful and I’d love to stay around March 1 or 2. My name is Patricia and I don’t have a phone yet until I land on the 18th.
